  1. Open mic at The Brix is for comedy only. No musicians or poets. Open mic follows a booked comedy show. My friend and I arrived 8:30. The booked show was still going on. 27 people were in the audience. There are no language restrictions.
Open mic happens in the main room at The Brix, where the server behind the bar is there to fulfill your wine or beer thirst, or, if you’re hungry, a burger, pizza, sandwich or salad. The place seats over 40. There is no stage, but wherever you sit you can see the one mic that is set up. Talent gets 3 minutes. They have a limited parking lot.
John Silver runs the room. Open mic started 9:15 the night I went. 17 people in the audience when we started. I got the 13th spot. Evidently, even numbers (2,4,6…) are reserved spots and odd numbers are designated for drop-ins, so up to 7 spots open for drop-ins and 7 slots for reserved talent. Don’t know if reserving a spot is done by Facebook or phone. By the time I went up at 10:08pm, there were only 8 people in the audience. The whole evening ended at 10:20pm.
Mostly you’re playing for other comedians, but there were a couple people there just for the show, not comedians themselves. If we had only come earlier, we would have gotten an earlier spot. My suggestion is for you to come to the booked show and enjoy it, then be one of the first to sign up for open mic. Reserving a spot may be the route to go, but, again, didn’t broach that subject with John. Best thing to do is call The Brix and ask what to do.
