im a comedian obviously and i jaunted on down to the globe pub. one question, do they advertise this open mic at all. absolutely no crowd except for comedians waiting to perform. dont waste your time unless it is your first time. rating: 1/2 star out of five. :(
Hey, hey, Hack attack! How you gonna dawg out a joint just cause the audience is all waiting comedians? I haven’t been to this joint but I’m going tonight just to get a proper review—up in he’re.
Well, I went to the Globe and although I will post this anonymously You know me. I’m the old black guy. Nate runs a fine mike. I was flat broke and panhandled just a fiver before the show-- five dollars which barely covered the cost of the daily soup. The waitress with a very nice padukadunk, still treated me like a king, nonetheless. Great house. It’s hacky not to understand that this is a process of crafting and developing your voice. A process which takes MOST TEN years. YOU are GONNA meet A LOT of comedians along the way. One of them MIGHT help your hacky ass be funny. Act like you know. Holler at your boy and do you have any spare change?
Most Northside Chicago open mics are 90+% comics waiting their turn; Globe is no different. Usually they have good beer specials, but the $5 burgers are no more.
Nate's a nice kid, about average self-indulgence for open mike emcee. And, even with all the new competition, he's holding his own. Good job, Nate.
New host -- Martin Morrow. Genuinely funny guy, runs an honest list. Past couple of weeks there's been a sparse turnout, but he can turn that around. More and better promotion, Martin! The layout of this room is too good to let it go to waste!
I have never personally been to the Globe, but I can say one thing. WELCOME TO OPEN MIC COMEDY!!! 99% of the time you are there with only other comics!!! Ay audience that is there is usually with some dude who is doing this for the first time. They laugh at nobody's stuff but his and leave shortly after he finishes. With that said, view audience as gravy, use the mics for practice and networking and have fun!

Ugh. Not quite a fan. Advertise this room, get more than five people in there, and I may come back.
