  1. Signup at Centerfield is supposed to be 9:30pm, but when I showed up at 9:20pm there were already nine names on the list. I learned one of the comics pushed the bartender, Kim, to bring out the signup sheet early. I ended up taking the tenth spot.
Talent gets five minutes. Signup is first come first choice. There are no language restrictions. The room has a lengthy history as an open mic, but it is currently hosted and run by a gentleman named Christian, who has only been doing the room a few weeks. The mic is for standup only. No music or poetry.
Centerfield is a sports bar is every way, with so many TVs, it was ridiculous. Only eight of them were on, four of which can easily be seen just to the left of the stage, but they are turned off before the mic starts. The TVs by the bar are left on but muted. While a full bar – beers are $8.50 for 25oz. -- the place also offers wings, nachos, a couple burger choices, even pizza bites. Parking is a shared lot, and there’s plenty.
The place seats well over a hundred and it also harbors three pool tables. The stage in the corner is very good, with plenty of room and plenty of lighting, although I recommend not wearing a hat and standing more towards the center of the stage. Those who moved closer to the front did not get much lighting. Shiny red curtains are the backdrop.
We had 13 people in the room total when we started at 10:01pm. Christian opened with a few minutes of material then brought up the first comic. Christian plays music between talent. Attendance increased to 20 by 10:23pm and 22 people by 10:39pm. I went up at 10:51pm. I saw when I left the stage there were 30 signups. I think this room goes till the last comic has performed. There were 18 people in the room when I left at 11:12pm.
Guys, this is a good room to do. By itself, this room is good. But what makes it especially good is that it takes place an hour after another mic that happens on the same street just three miles away. This is a good double-dip because of its proximity and time to one another, assuming signup for the second mic is 9:30 and not earlier. The whole place has the look of a showroom, and the comics are pretty good about paying attention to your set, even if the energy was not abundant.
