  1. At Oneo Vino, there is limited free parking in a lot shared with other businesses, and even then it is free for only an hour. Otherwise, parking is on the street and it costs $2 for two hours and meters go till 8pm. Signup is done online, but three slots are reserved for walk-ins. I was the first of the three walk-ins. When I arrived, every phone-in slot was filled. There are 22 slots total. Also, there is a one drink minimum to perform.
The room is run by a gentleman named Alex, who has been doing this mic for almost two years. Talent gets four minutes. There are no language restrictions. The room goes on for about two hours. It is for comedy only. No music or poetry. The place serves mostly wine, but it does offer some beers. Nothing on tap, all bottled. There are also a couple nonalcoholic drinks to choose from.
The mic takes place in a room downstairs, away from the retail business upstairs. Downstairs, there is also a bar and a bathroom, but the mic itself takes place in a room separate from the bar. Anyone inside is there for the mic and nothing else. The room seats 16, and the talent performs on a platform stage that held a mic, stand and a chair.
The room started at 5:05pm. We had nine people in the room when Alex opened. A couple minutes later, that number increased to 11. There were 13 people total when I went up third at 5:15pm. Talent got the light at one minute, which was an artificial candle turning on on a nearby table. Alex would announce who is on deck when bringing up the next talent, so you had some warning before your turn.
Guys, this is a good room to do. Anyone in the room is definitely there for the mic, and I did not see many people absorbed in their phones. The audience paid attention and laughed when they heard something funny. Having a glass of wine or a beer didn’t hurt, either. That the bar and bathroom are just on the other side of the wall, if you need to excuse yourself, you don't have to go far to do any business. Alex is a good host, and I see why this room has lasted as long as it has. It’s a room meant for standup, and the people who go there know that and support the room for that reason. Plus, it starts early enough in the day that you can get a second or third mic in before calling it a night.
