  1. Open mic at Sandbox is run by a man named Catfish Fry. A musician himself, he’s been running this venue for a year and a half. About 95% of the people who perform are musicians. Signup is 5:45 and it’s first-come-first-choice. He can average 13 to 14 performers a show, which goes till 8:30. The stage is a cozy platform that fits 2 mics. The place seats 14 to 16, actually more, but 14 to 16 who can see the performer. Catfish prefers no bad language.
Whatever talent you bring to the stage, you get 15 minutes. They have a parking lot, which is nice. The place itself sells beer and wine, and, of course, coffee, as well as sandwiches and salads.
There were maybe 7 people in attendance when I went up. Catfish opened with a couple songs then two other performers went up. The room seemed to fill as the evening progressed. I went up after that and did maybe 10 minutes. I sat in a chair, because my audience was so close. A very intimate setting.
For the amount of stage time you get, Sandbox is worth considering. True, the audience will not be gigantic, but sometimes the best audiences are the smaller ones, and it gives comedians a chance to practice for such occasions. Certainly, it will be a test if you can connect with them or not, so intimate the room was.
