  1. Nice room, friendly atmosphere, and short wait.

  2. Stretch is great and the room seems to be about 75% comics who are supportive and 25% real audience who wander in from down below so it's one of the better open mic situations. Also, when Stretch isn't hosting he always has a top quality host which makes the night go by fast but not rushed.

  3. The only problem I have with this place is the energy level starts out high for the first three or fours comics then levels out completely..... almost every. single. time.

  4. Prepare to perform for all comedians. Yes, some audience members do pop in some weeks but don't count on it. It's a small room so the 30-40 comics looking to get on give the illusion of a packed house, but don't be fooled, it's all comics. The energy at the top is from the illusion but it tapers off quick as all open mics do that have an all comic audience, they begin going over their set list, start talking to each other, etc. etc... Parking is all street meters and can be a real hassle - it's sunset blvd what you want?? - there is paid lot parking across the street for the frustrated. There is some favoritsm but not much, it's walking distance to the comedy store so you get some names now and again. Don't count on doing this and then doing a set at the store. You gotta choose opne or the other cuz the wait time at both are long. - Brett Gilbert

  5. Decent room. Stretch is a good host who just bought a new mic so don't go in there and drop it. No one is really paying attention. A few laughs in here means you probably have a good joke. First come, first serve on the list.

  6. I left my Rayban tortoise clubmasters here on Monday night. I left them at the bar, if anyone knows their whereabouts please let me know.

    Thanks.

    Please.

They were only 2 weeks young.

  7. I want to preface this review by stating that Stretch is an ultra-good dude. I don't really want to discourage anyone from performing at this mic.
But last night I waited almost two hours, then I finally left it to do Marty's, where I was put on almost immediately.
Stretch's friends and the people who emailed ahead were being bumped up. It gets on your nerves when you see people who entered the room ten minutes earlier getting on the stage while you're getting close to hour two of your wait.

It's fair warning to everyone: like Brett stated, if you're just a walk-in, it's a LONG wait.
As much as I have liked to perform here in the past, I probably won't return to it.

    1. Comedy is also a social experience, too. You gotta be friendly, you gotta meet people, you gotta make friends, you gotta make your presence known. Once you knock on the door, you'll be let into the party.

  9. Went there tonight, to make up for a bad set the night before, and did exactly what I had to do on stage, so I had a great time. Really a fun night. It was 5 or 6 minutes I guess, but the time was enough for me to just work my shit. The host Stretch was cool all around and all the way through. He treated me as though he new me, which I really appreciated. There was about 12 to 14 comics in the room, and that was fine. The response was good enough for me. I'm there to work on my act and not worry about how many or how they react type stuff. I nailed it, then hit the Laugh Factory, and just experienced the type of night that makes you love it and want to do lots more. This may be my regular Monday spot now, because I can bicycle there, get on stage, and have a $3 Corona. You can beat that.
