Don't let the name of the venue fool you. Comedy is as much welcomed as music. Admittedly, music dominated the evening, but maybe that will change. The man running the room is Orin "O" Smith. He's been doing this room almost 7 years. Street parking only, but that late at night, not a problem. You get 5 minutes, and there is a suggested $5 donation. There were about 30 people in attendance. The room itself is great. They serve beer and wine, and the menu was pretty good. Staff were wonderful; always smiling. Looking at their calendar, I would recommend bringing a date here. I say all this because I am reminded that ambiance can contribute to the success of a performance. Long before you go up on stage, has the audience been sated, their thirst and hunger satisfied in a timely manner? If so, they are primed for entertainment. If not. . . . This room should be tried by every comedian, because it reflects just what you want in a room: a general audience. Diversity. If you believe your humor is universal, here is your chance to showcase that. Especially if attendance is around 30 peeps.
Just went tonight, was pretty disappointed by how outdated the info is. Currently, as of tonight at least, there is a cover charge of $7 as well as a required purchase of a meal or beer if you would like to sit in the dining area. $6 dollars and under require to be seated at the 5 seater bar, while there was a small row of about 10 chairs placed in a row that was uncomfortably and awkwardly arranged directly infront of the stage. I don't know if this experience would have been better for me had I known what I was getting into beforehand of course, but the change should at least be noted and changed on the list.
This is also a mostly musician open mic, though it is not limited.
