It's 2 bucks plus a drink, pretty steep for 5 minutes. There's some musicians but no where near the popularity of the Pig n Whistle. You sign up and perform upstairs in a small room in kind of a dipped down stage, a little weird. The rainbow room was a hang out place for all the famous heavy metal rockers of the 80's. Lem from Motorhead still hangs out there as well as some other motely crue era rock stars. Meters are hard to find out front and go till 2am. I'd give this one a "meh". Personally I won't be back. - Brett Gilbert
I agree with Brett. The stage is at a lower level and hard to see from most of the seats. A bit of a creepy vibe, but then again it is an open mic. I can understand having to buy a beer, as most places require it, but there is no reason to pay another $2. Again, parking is rough. All of the surrounding neighborhoods are permit parking.
I wouldn't call it "a bit of a creepy vibe." Come on, man. It was ULTRA-CREEPY... I arrived at 8:15. The dude was 20+ minutes late and still setting up the equipment when I left at 9:10. I won't return.
This is the worst open mic in LA!!!!! Don't ever go here! They let people go on forever. There are also a bunch of drunk hilbilies that to there that are so loud, you can't even talk. I will never be back and I will everyone that I can to never go there!!!
small cozy spot in the upstairs bar not many people though
ReplyDeleteDont go 7 bucks to perform much better rooms in hollywood area
