  1. Nate & Steve run a really fun, "loosey-goosey" show. Because it features three booked comics, the mic portion feels more like a relaxed show than typical open mic. I would definitely recommend this mic.

  2. Awesome mic! I'm visiting from Florida and I did this mic last night, first thing I liked about it is that it's held in like a small theater room rather than a bar so the only people in the crowd are there just for the open mic. It's free! An everyone else there are comics too so it was really supportive, really relaxed, and they also book comics so if everyone who does open mic sucks, the show is still decent (although all the open mic guys did a good job nobody totally bombed). Amateurs are chosen out of a bucket which is kind of cool and everyone gets a 3 minute set. Free, supportive, fun mic go do it.

  3. 3 mins of stage time was alright. but the show itself was good so it was worth the trip for an open mic. not to far away from manhattan. it was free, but best free open mic so far. very good vibes. supportive crowd.

  4. For two reasons, this mic is my favorite-

    1. You can bring the condiments in from the dining area and not have to pay. Last week I ate a whole plate of salt and pepper ketchup.

    2. The friends here are amazing. I don't know any of them but the people that come to this mic seem to be really great friends. Thats nice, you know?

And that is why this mic is my favorite.

  9. To start off I must say that I am half-Taiwanese. This is sometimes a problem for me at Open Mic Comedy Nights but not at Corby Hass' Open Mic Comedy Show.

I attended for the first time, two weeks ago, three months after starting comedy for the purpose of trying my five dollar footlongs joke. Corby laughed at my joke and we went out for Subway after. I liked him but he was a bit of a braggart. Smiling over the counter in that sumptuous Texan grin of his, he turned to me and boasted "I can get ya a whole bottle of Chipotle Southwest Dressing...I know a guy." Unlike so many open mic hosts in this city Corby seemed like he actually would. The next week when I attended the Corby Hass Open Microphone I was greeted by a visible aroused Corby Hass.

"Is this a bottle of Chipotle Southwest Dressing in my pocket or am I just happy to see you?" Corby asked. The answer was actually both but I appreciated the gesture.

If you like good comedy, gregarious hosts or spicy sandwiches than you will enjoy this mic. Keep an eye out for me. I'll be the guy whose excited to see you! Don't worry tho! I was born with a glandular disorder that prevents my body from showing excitement of any kind. LOL!

  11. Pretty good mic. Unlike a lot of mic's most of the comics actually stay in the room and listen instead of writing their jokes outside.

  12. Most of the comics watch other comics. I'm worried that Cody is beginning to actually believe he's Corby. Just joking, you know we're friends.

  13. love this mic one of the best in the city! Usually when I do my masturbation on stage bit (which involves a well crafted act out thats usually hard to pull off in 4 minutes) I get kicked out. But here, I got thunderous applause

  14. @Greg Tankus: That was definitely true for awhile (= Corby Haas is quite a fun character to play.

Since "Johnny Vegas" moved back to Miami and my new co-producer doesn't have an "alpha male alter ego" we're changing the theme a little. We're still hugging (OBVIOUSLY!) but I'm just Cody Hess again, and me and Macom (new co-producer/co-host) are going to experiment with some projector stuff but, as ever, mostly just shout y'all's names and get the fuck off the stage.

  15. I love this Mic! Black box theater. Similar to UCB. Super supportive folks... Be forewarned: make with the hug, or you better have some reaaaallly fucking good material! No, but seriously who doesn't hug? =/

    1. this is a good mic, usually a big crowd who is ready to laugh if your material is funny and not laugh if it isn't. You have 2 mins to find out if it is, so this has definately made me a better comic, totally recommend it.

  16. This is a good mic. The comics don't laugh at generalizations or dirt like they do at most mics. You actually need to have an original thought.
