  1. Going on over 8 years, the room has switched producers three times, I am told. Currently, it is run by a gentleman named Jay, a tall man whose head almost touched the ceiling of the room. The room is upstairs and seats almost 25. Parking is on the street, and you must pay. Signup is first come first choice. There are no restrictions.
There is no stage. A mic and stand are set up for the comedian, and there is a chair close by where a gentleman, this week, Jesse, sits and converses with the talent while they perform. Everyone can see the stage wherever you sit. This is not a conventional standup room in that you perform your set for the audience. In the 4 minutes of stage time one gets, a topic or topics is discussed at the beginning of the mic, and everyone is expected to come up with witty things to say about the topic.
The day I went, we were permitted to go upstairs at 4:05pm. The room started 4:12pm with 17 in attendance, all comedians. I ordered a pint of beer and got the Happy Hour special price of $6 and change. This room is very popular, as more talent showed up as the day progressed, and I believe we had close to 19 signups before the room ended at 6:07pm.
Guys, I must confess. I did not sign up, just wanted to see and understand the room. It was somewhat chaotic. There were times when the talent on stage just stood there while the audience spoke back to the talent and each other throughout their set, attempting to get laughs themselves. The gentleman in the chair sometimes spoke more than the talent, going for a laugh rather than letting the talent on stage do 4 minutes, the cell light from Jay at 3. The topic we were asked to riff on was "cumming" and "who in the room will die first". As the majority of the comedians knew each other, the banter went back and forth about Jesse, as he was singled out to pass away before anyone else.
Everyone had a good time. Believe me, there were plenty of laughs going around. I recognized a few comedians I had seen at other rooms during my trip here. The camaraderie amongst the talent was strong, though I did feel like an outsider, as I didn’t personally know anyone. I certainly couldn’t answer who I thought would die next.
As a place to network and meet comics from the Seattle area, this room is a good one to do. A couple of talent were also visiting from out of town, and they went up, revealing their personal history about sex. This room was quite accepting of anyone who shared such personal detail, again, looking to just riff and have fun with the topic.
If you like to improvise, sure, this is a good room to do. No other mic takes place at that time, and you can double-dip this room after first doing Ikor CafĂ© at 2pm before driving to this one. And later that night you can even get in a third room, if you’re aggressive with your comedy.
