  1. This room is a hot spot. Know that up front. I showed up at 5:08pm and the first 11 spots were already taken. One of them was a phone in, I learned. I took the twelfth spot out of 15.
The business serves coffee and tea and some desserts. No alcohol or cider. The room seats 22, 20 of which can see “the stage.” Three mics are set up to one corner of the room, very convenient. Talent gets two songs or ten minutes, and all genres of talent are welcome. The room has been going on for four year and is run by a gentleman named Bob. Signup is first come first choice, but, as you read, someone did phone in, so that may be an option. I recommend just being here before 5pm. The room goes till 8pm, and the business has limited parking.
There were 13 peeps in the room plus the host when we started at 5:33pm. The 15 signup slots were all taken before the evening began. Mostly this room draws musicians, but there were two comedians, myself included, performing that night. In the immediate minutes following, attendance had increased to 18. Attendance peaked around 6:30pm with 20 people in the room. By 7:27pm. The number was down to 17. (A number of talent went over ten minutes, and grossly. One guy was told he had a minute left. So, what does he do? Instead of getting himself off, knowing a minute is not long enough for anything – save maybe the Happy Birthday Song or For He’s A Jolly Good Fellow – this guy decides to do a whole other song, one that went on close to four minutes. Ugh!) I ended up playing for only nine people, and that number would have been higher had previous talent respected their time. As it turned out, the room went past 8pm, till everyone went up.
Guys, overall, this room was very good to me. What audience was there paid attention to the talent. And though the business is not a large room, it does get packed. I repeat my earlier suggestion to come before signup begins to get an earlier spot during their peak moments. If only the talent had respected the time given to them and not gone over, more talent would have played to a bigger crowd. Still, this room is a hot spot and with good reason. This is a once a month gig. Bob is a good host, but a little too forgiving when talent abuses the stage time.
