  1. I have already reviewed this room on their midnight Friday night mic, so some of the details of the business may be redundant.
On Wednesdays the room is typically run by a gentleman named Sean, but the night I was there, we had a guest emcee named Zoey. The mic is for standup only, and talent gets three minutes. Signup is first come first choice, and comics are good about signing up in order of arrival, unlike some rooms where it’s more aggressive, like piranhas on a parrot. Like most rooms that are comedy only, this mic has no language restrictions.
The room seats about 60, and their stage is well lit and talent can be easily seen. A full bar to one side serves draft beers at $5 a pint. Some foods like pizza and candy may be purchased. Thankfully, there are no TVs to distract the room. People attending are there for the mic and nothing else.
I arrived at 6:50pm and there were two comics already here. The signup sheet came out promptly at 7pm, and I signed up third, taking the third spot. The room goes till the last comic has gone up.
The evening started at 7:38pm. We had a total of 18 people in the room. A keyboardist, Ira, who also went up first, played talent on and off stage while staying on stage himself in the back and to one side. Having live music between acts worked in the room’s favor, and he is not a distraction from the talent. He sits quietly and listens like the audience does. Zoey opened with a few minutes then brought up the first talent. We had 19 people at 8:03pm.
Even though I signed up third, I actually went up fourth. Zoey rearranged the order, I guess, to accommodate someone. That’s okay. Being off by one on the list was fine by me. I had nowhere else to go that night anyway.
The whole evening went quite well. Everyone respected the light, some even giving time back to the room, which was surprising, as three minutes whizzes by. Attendance waned as the evening went on, and at one point someone spilled a drink and food on stage, so future performers thereafter had to move the stool and navigate around the puddle. Otherwise, the evening went well enough. It would have been nice to have met the original host of the room, but at least you have the essentials.
Overall, I had a good time, and I am sure you will, too. But, like the last room I did the night before, I recommend getting an early spot. As the audience dwindled, so did the energy in the room.
