I originally did this room about a year ago and submitted a review. I was later informed by the staff at Badslava that my review was lost when the website was updated with new software. The following review is based on my memory, my notes, and what I just learned, having stopped in the other day to inquire about any changes. The open mic has been going on two and a half years. It is currently hosted by a gentleman named Nigel. Signups are now 5pm, and the show starts at 6, not 7pm, and goes till 9pm. Foul language is okay, but use good judgment if you see kids in the audience. It’s not so much language as the material that may upset the place, I am told. Talent gets three songs or 15 minutes. The stage is more elevated than wide, looking like a decorated platform. The whole room will definitely see you. (If you’re announcing your bid for the presidency, this may be the platform to be on when doing so.) The room seats about 47 people. Legacy serves beer only, but they also offer soft drinks for the kids. Legacy offers no food, however, a taco truck wheels in on Tuesdays and serves some great deals like three tacos for $5, their arrival coinciding with the time open mic happens. There is no admission fee, but a tip jar sits at the front of the stage. Three muted TVs play at various ends of the room. All forms of talent are welcome, but the place typically attracts musicians. They get about one to six comedians a week. Parking is easy, as they have their own lot. There’s also street parking. Guys, this room is worth doing. I had a sizable audience when I performed, 25 peeps in all it says in my notes, and they’re there for the show. I was the first to sign up and took the third spot. It’s first come first choice. They used to offer a complimentary beer to talent -- at least they did me -- but that has since discontinued. Still, for the amount of stage time, I recommend this room. If you can put together an itinerary and include other venues in nearby towns, I suggest getting a couple comedians to go with you, and pitch in to get a cheap motel. There’s at least one venue happening every night Monday through Friday, and more often two venues, in the surrounding areas. But make sure Legacy is on the list.
