  1. Know from the top that The Harp Inn has a small parking lot and limited street parking. Come early.
Ted runs the room, has been doing so for about four years. Mostly this room is for comedy, but in the second half of the evening, a couple musicians did some time. There are no language restrictions, and talent gets five minutes, the light at four. A single mic stood sentinel on a 14 inch high stage. The room seats almost 60, and wherever you sit, you can see the stage.
I arrived at 7:10 and Ted was setting up. He wrote my name down when I said I was here for open mic. Guys, I honestly don’t know how signup works. When the show started about six comedians went on before me. I was the first person in the room, so I’m wondering if these were phone-in signups. I suggest coming as early as I did and making sure Ted knows as soon as possible you want stage time. Going seventh or eighth wasn’t bad, though attendance had started to drop.
A booked show goes from 8pm to 9pm, then the open mic starts. Ted hosted the main show then handed the reins to another comedian who emceed the open mic. About 18 people were in attendance when the 8pm show started. By 9pm, the room had increased to 26. Open mic started closer to 9:15, but that was fine.
Thankfully, the pub serves Irish food and not just drinks. I had their New York, but Harp Inn also serves burgers, salads, sandwiches and traditional Irish entrees like fish and chips. For those less hungry but still want something, they offer appetizers as well.
Guys, this room was fine to do. Ted is a friendly guy, and he has a booming voice when on the mic. Attendance decreased as the evening went on; I stayed till almost the end, and there were only about six peeps in the room, including the host. Ted had departed some time earlier. Did not get to ask him how sign-ups worked, so, again, just come early and let them know you want to perform. For the amount of stage time, to make it worth your while, stay for the main show. It’s free, and while you’re there, have some dinner. Food prices are reasonable. Can’t say the same for their beer: one on tap runs $9. But the food is reasonable. Besides, you don’t want to be hammered before a performance.
