  1. This is a Good NEW mic in a premium venue with a convenient start time, the host Fariaz is flexible and lets you workout your new bits in a supportive environment.. Sean Redmond

  2. It's a real comedy club room and the host keeps up a great energy. Also, the audience is supportive.

  4. I've done this mic a bunch of times. It's a real positive environment and a good way to spend a Sunday. The one-item minimum is reasonable (you can get a coffee for $5) but The Stand has amazing brunch/food options so you can really make a day out of this. Plus it's early so you can do more mics later on in the day, which is ideal.

  5. Beware of host- Gene Getman is a thief. I was at a Laughing Buddha mic he hosted where a West Indian guy told a story about his homophobe dad.... Two days later, at the village lantern, Getman was telling the kid's story- said on stage "listen to what happened to my friend from..." What a useless hack of a shithead. Wasn't even a funny story- that's what you steal?!

  6. First of all... Gene is NOT a joke thief... The last poster is an idiot.
Second of all... This is one of the best mics in the city... Supportive vibe but never too supportive. There's never been a mic this early on ANY day that's as upbeat. Go here!

  7. This is a typical mic. Good host, and the usual mix of people, most of whom left as soon as their sets were done. It was very crowded the day I went, and people only got three minutes, so that is something to keep in mind, but I would say it was pretty much like the majority of the open mics in the city.

  8. Today was my first time at the stand's Sunday mic. Alot of good comedians here and alot of energy especially when there is almost a fight on stage. The mic says it's a lottery system, and pretends to be, but I watched the host pick out names while at his seat. Proceed to go on stage and pull out one bunch of 5 or 6 predetermined comics. I understand you may get priority if you are a regular or know the host but it is not right to say lottery and have the rest of us sit there without a chance of getting called. It was obvious what was going on so no need to defend yourself but just understand everyone there has a life and should be given the same opportunity to go up early and leave right after there set. Like I said already the mic is great.

  9. Terrible! Poorly run, disorganized and juvenile. I do not recommend this mic, do not waste your Sunday afternoon with this mic. No energy and the hosts are not only inexperienced but so absolutely no enthusiasm for the craft nor the workshop.
