This mic is great! Small warm room, and Teresa is lovely!
A superb mic. The hostess is sweet and the comedians are clever. Miles above most mics.
Teresa is the bizomb!
This mic's got enough people so I'm a little hesitant to advertise this mic but it's a great room with a good pool of talented comics. And the hostess is ultra cool and always smiling. Fair and fun mic!
Small room, but really supportive, and the host is nice to the comics. Went to this open mic before now they supposedly do the lottery.
Sporadically ventured into this underground venue with little to no expectations from a simplistic badslava review and the oblivion-ness of this open mic, or maybe i was just one of the few that didn't know of it. "THIS PLACE ROCKS" There's something intrinsically uncanny about this place. It feels like the true underground essence of what New York City is all about. This place is the all encompassing aura of of comedic fantasy and potentiality. Underground and Magnificently beautiful. To miss this open mic is a travesty that defies human description.Atelston Fitzgerald Holder 1stMr Pregnant...!
Awesome mic. If you go last, you get to go first the next time. Some comics seem to stay til the end which makes it a more intimate crowd and it gets really cozy and fun. Host rocks solids. There is always a winner of the evening's set if you stay til the end.
Teresa is pleasing to the mind aesthetically, Her aura and smile glitters an uncanny perpetual continuity in the core of dichotomic humor, facetious flippant juxtaposed with cerebral abstract immaculate comedy. This tiny sparingly dense room is an enigma i pondered demystifying simply because of it's comedic polarity and trichotomy.Mega-Magnificent...!Atelston Fitzgerald Holder 1stMr Pregnant
i am not trying to hurt your feelings, honest, but have you ever heard of the law of all writing called KISS? it stands for "Keep It Simple, Stupid"; all it means is just say what you mean in as few words as possible. I have the same problem that you have--a tendency to overwrite--so I am not trying to patronize you, just help you find your real voice. right now you sound you just finished cramming for the verbal SATs. if you don't own a book called The Elements of Style, get a copy. in the next hour, if possible. and good luck to you in your endeavors--

Teresa is still the bizomb!
The mics ok. But she chrges money and pockets the money..why are we paying her bills?
SOMEBODY's got to--
Somebody is paying: to rent the space, to maintain the space, to insure the space, to heat / cool the space, to keep the lights on and the mic working, to clean the bathrooms and provide toilet paper and hand towels, and to do all the other things necessary to maintain a space in New York City (a pretty expensive real estate market). The real reason this space is even available is that someone is doing a favor for someone (in this case probably the very charming Teresa), and ultimately that redounds to your benefit. Believe it or not, no business person in New York City would rent such a space for the privilege of providing it to you for $5 a pop. The amount of $5 is low for the value provided. That doesn’t mean you can afford it, it just means that the benefit you receive is worth more than the $5 you are paying for it. Badslava tell us all everyday about all the free rooms in the city, and you’ve probably been to many of them. They definitely serve the purpose, but you know (for whatever reason) they just don’t feel as good. This room gets the $5 because it’s good enough to maintain a capacity crowd even after charging $5 a head. If this room were free, you probably wouldn’t get on the list. Your question and attitude reflect a sense of entitlement that is unfounded.
Thank you for all of the comics who have attended the mic! Also to Atelson, for your enthusiastic comments! As far as the last comment is concerned, most of the money goes to the venue. If you think that I'm paying my bills based off of running an open mic, then you should start one if you think it's that profitable.Hope to see you all Tuesday!T.
How big is this room usually? And how late does it run? Thanks!
The room holds about 25 to 30 comics. It is downstairs at The Metropolitan Room. Depending on how many comics show up, the mic will end between 10:30 and 11pm. If you have any other questions feel free to email me, I run the mic. Tdegaetano@gmail.com Thank you!
this mic is as hot as the dishes they wash behind the stage
Great room. Small room but great room. This is almost the perfect mic. The comics are supportive but not to where the laugh at everything. They will let you know when a joke is good or bad. It's $5 but it's worth it.Also Teresa is a great/friendly host and she is very attractive.
Been doing open mics for 7 years and this by far is the best. Very professionally run, fair to the comics and very supportive crowd. Metropolitan Room is a great room and supportive of all types of artists and if I could sing, I'd play this room
Saw one comic get offended by a joke made by another comic then they almost got in a fight, it was hysterical, although not very supportive.
I saw that, fuck that guy who was offended. He needs to quit comedy.
This mic use to be amazing. It has gone to shit. Nobody hangs around. The host friends go up friend. New comics get put at the end of the mic. It is a very Clicky mic.
Elitist mic, bad environment, low ceiling, will never go again.
