These are the same guys that run the Uptown mic on Mondays and the HKL Show. They give a damn about the comics. Some regular ppl walk in and the comics laugh if you say something funny, so that's cool. The lightning round thing spices it up too...
Kevin and Alex are great hosts. They have one of the best run open mics in the city. I should know because I used to be a regular at their uptown open mic.
I won't say this is the worst mic because it doesn't qualify as one. It's a coffee shop. I had a miserable experience here. It seems to attract the douchy wonder bread crew.
Well run and supportive mic. Mike Brown, Kevin and Alex are good dudes. And Monica is the bomb-front to back and back to front. Plus the regular comics who come here are here to work stuff out and have fun! Imagine that? I highly recommend.
Having been born with incurable douchy wonder bread crew-itis, I take full offense to the previous comment. It's a gland problem, okay? For every person born with dwbc (pronounced deewaabckk for short) 10 starving babies grow a mustache. Why do you like hairy babies you perve? Also, this mic is awesome.
The people that run this mic are cool. It's hit or miss like any mic. I've had a good time here. It's a good alternative to Dale the drama queens overpriced room.
Fun mic. Def recommend for comics who want to work out new stuff or run their tried and true. This room attract a eclectic mix of seasoned veterans as well as newbies and everyones having a good time working on their craft.
This is a great mic. Run with integrity, cheer and alacrity. ALWAYS BRING THE ALACRITY PEOPLE. Seriously, they get back to you fast and I like that. It's a tiny cafe and we're packed in like immigrant sex workers in the back of a "seafood" truck, so it's high on laughs. (We laugh more when uncomfortable and tightly confined.) LOVE the location. You get to see hot rich people as you walk to your mic, which is important. Enjoy!
Great mic! Most of the people looking through this site have done the open mic grind and know that it's extremely rare that you find a mic that you actually look forward to. This mic is one you can look forward to.
Last week in particular, I ran the same material at about 8-10 mics, with the 11th St. Cafe mic being the last one. I got varied responses until that point but when I finally got to this mic, there was a different feel to the entire room. Everyone's happy to be there, everyone's supporting each other and everyone's having fun, which is what comedy should be. As a result, everyone's more engaged. Watching the tape after that mic, the material just had more life to it. That has everything to do with the room. Alex, Kevin and Monica are great hosts--I definitely reccommend this mic to anyone looking for a fun room to check out!

This is a fun open mic. Plus sometimes they will draw a sketch of you. I didn't think I'd like lightning rounds, but I do now.
