They should turn this mic into a lottery. The list comes out at a different time every week and they limit the spots to 12-15 people.
They got rid of the 1-minute lightning round which was a good idea.
But I don't like mics where you have to show up an hour early only to find that the list is already full. All the best mics are lottery or email in advance sign up.
I have only been going for a few months, but Vicious Cycle is definitely a lottery now. You drop your name in the 'Bucket of Destiny' , and then Molly tends to draw the first 5 names out of the bucket on stage. A 6th person is allowed to perform who won a drawing at the end of the previous week for sticking around till the end.
After the first 6 comics go, a Molly or Mike will draw the last 6 comics names out of the bucket.
As I alluded to before, if you stick around till the end, and you didn't go up, you could have your name drawn at the end, guaranteeing you a spot the following week. Also, the best comic of the night get's a spot on the 8:00 show at the PIT called Cold Soda.
Fortunately, I was drawn from the bucket tonight and got to go up. I've definitely been there on nights where I didn't get to go though.
Unfortunately, my set went over like a lead balloon, but I stand by the material. :)
I've launched many a lead balloon in my time, to say nothing of carpet-bombing; not necessarily a reflection on one's material, just an occupational hazard--
You didn't bomb. If your who I think you are, your stuff was good, just maybe not right for the room. Try Broadway Comedy Club, that's where I perform most.
Performed here through an acquaintance invitation, Clearly a midnight mecca capital for all comedic demographics. The theatre space is theatrically aesthetic with an upward inclined auditorium seating area. Combine your most intricate lexical and syntactic ambiguity and spur your abstract cerebral punchlines, Because 2 minutes is quite reasonable to shower your comedic juices, like cupid in love with the poetic aroma of the wonderful enigma of humor. The Pit juxtaposes many open mic subsets and offers an array of overall stage presence possibilities. This place is Mega Super Magnificent...!
very chill environment

You know.... nobody likes you. You're creepy. When you come on stage at a mic, it's time for a bathroom break.
DeleteLove the cartoon hat though
It's a paid open mic now with $1 at the front. It was mainly a college age crowd of comics. Have two minutes. It was in the underground stage.
ReplyDeleteI'm a terrible person inside.
