  1. I've only been here once. The joint is nice, it's not too deep in Hollywood to get to and it's not impossible to find free parking in the residential area nearby.

The host on Thursdays, Amy, is friendly and knowledgeable. She does mind the time limit, but is courteous about letting you wrap up.

The performing experience is okay. You can email ahead, which is nice if you don't have a lot of time to sit and watch other comedians. I am not a fan of those who perform and then leave immediately, but unfortunately, some of the other performers didn't really bring enough heat or energy to encourage you to stay.

Since the open mic takes place in a cafe, expect a lot of bathroom traffic and coffee maker noises. They do have a nice audio system (read: loud), so it's not like you can't just talk over them when you need to. The crowd is generally supportive, and they have some "bottomless mimosa" special that really helps get you some laughs.

  2. I got something to say about ppl criticizing comics for leaving immediately after their sets. I can say that myself and most of the comics that I know are doing that to try to make another open mic so that they can better themselves. This should be applauded and not crapped on.

    1. No, half of comedy is the audience. By leaving you deprive the latter comics of an audience and they cannot properly gauge their performance. If youre staring at your notes before ur set and not listening to the performing comic, you may miss something funny they said and they will think a funny joke is shit cuz they got no laughs.

Stop being so fucking selfish and be a good audience member. Your a fucking comic you should know better.

    2. Paul, you are the selfish one. I'm not staying for your set...it's an open mic! It's your own practice. Yes, while you're there be polite, pay SOME attention, but feel free to look at our notes and leave when you're done. It's okay by the rest of us.

  6. I did the Sal's Open Mic Yesterday. I liked it... It was a nice venue. If you ever wanted to invite some buddies to watch you in action, this would be the place. Great deals on Beer and food. The host was sharp. It is an open mic..so you may loose a little of your soul; but beer can fill that hole.
