  1. good room. mostly comedians and one or two musicians. you get five minutes and the list is anywhere from 10-15 people. after the open mic there's an hour or so of featured comedians. the plus is that you have real people in the audience. the minus is that parents will sometimes bring kids in. overall it's a fun and supportive spot.

  2. really cool vibe in this place. It's a coffee house with a nice 20 person or so performing space. Open Mic earlier then a booked show.

real people, and lots of street parking, email Vince. He's a solid guy.

Too bad it's a haul to get to Fullerton.

  3. Actually,
Vince is not a cool guy. The original setup was cool. I asked both Vince and the manager of the coffee shop about how they felt about me doing blue material on stage. Both said that there was no problem because they had posted a sign at the door warning people that there might be adult content. Once I got on stage, Vince not-so-Royale interrupts me after doing one minute of the set to shout from the back of the room that he thinks the material is too strong. This is after I spent an hour helping him setup the stage. Some gratitude.

  4. Great place - I did my first open mic ever here, and Vince and the audience were really supportive and welcoming. Really warm vibe, felt like family :)

  5. I appreciate and thank you with helping with the set up Jimmy. And I told you can san say anything as long as there are no children in the room. But I remember you started a bit about raping animals when there were little kids running around. You said it was your first time to do comedy, so don't worry about it and your still welcome back. I apologize for interrupting you but that moment just made everyone uncomfortable and some folks started to walk out. I don't have a problem with anyone saying whatever they want but to just keep the audience in mind. I've been doing Max Bloom's for over a year. And we've been averaging over 50-60 people (Comics and Non-Comics) every Friday night. And I thank everyone's support for keeping it a strong room. I respect and love the venue and want to keep the room for the comedy community. - Vince Royale

  7. Vince runs a great open mic. Small space so you're really close to the audience, but I saw that as a plus. I've done it twice and did well, it's a good spot to try out some different material.

  11. Actually my name is Plug. I made the mistake of driving an hour outside of LA to get here at 6:45 only for the host to show up at 7:15. Then I sign up 12th, and had the pleasure of watching at least 16 people go up before me. I don't mind a host putting up his friends that can show up 2 minutes before their sets and not sign up, but at least let those motherfuckers be funny! The host said "ima put you up early since you drove far" and after being reassured I was next at least 2 times, only to watch 4 more acts go up I FINALLY LEFT. I don't take things too personal so no hard feelings towards Vince but fuck your room sir.

  12. Yeah, I noticed that Vince tends to put people on stage almost at random. Other than that, its a positive vive, and oc's only comedy only open mic.

  13. I'm not sure if it's just because it's Vince's last night before he goes back to NY...but can I just say...if he always acted & ran things the way he did tonight...then he is a piece of shit & can go fuck himself.
Myself & 3 friends showed up at 6:45 & were 3, 4, 5, & 6 on the list...only two of us went on at 9:45 & we just left after that because people just kept showing up & he just kept letting them go on stage...he couldn't even keep track of the time & the light because he was too busy outside the whole time & would run in randomly to tell people to get off stage. He also spent about 3 - 4 minutes in between each comic to attempt to tell what he calls "jokes" when it's just him rambling on about how awesome he thinks he is.
    Again & Simplified.
    Vince = POS.

  14. Yeah, while I was on stage my girlfriend was in the bathroom with Vince. But I got to do a longer set cause no one game me the light. I think there's a new host though. But I'm not bringing my girlfriend again.

  15. My favorite open mic. Mostly local comedians (no bitter, "I just got here from new york and my acting career is going nowhere."

  16. Max Blooms? Ha. AH. AHAHAHAAHAA.
Check this out, you can show up an hour and a half before the 7PM start time and you'll still go three hours in because nobody that is going to be performing signs themselves up. They just get their 16 year old high school friend to do it for them ahead of time or some other junk like that. The only good thing about this place is it's a great place to see where you will be in 30 years if you keep performing here. Moreso, the "comedians" i saw the last time I was here a year ago? Still performing the same schtick because I went last week.
The audience makes up mostly of people that think it's okay to interrupt your act with their own snide comments. Really, the place is a bunch of 25 year olds that haven't been kicked out of their houses wagging their tongues at some 16 year old. Prove me wrong.

  17. I completely agree. I loved Max back in the day but the new hosts are a couple of douche bags. The pathetic audience of less than 10 are fat and lazy comics who only support each other and run out of the room whenever someone new gets on stage.
Btw it's an ugly sausage fest!

  18. Good open mike. I went up as scheduled - no surprise sets by other comics. Host treats all acts fairly. Parking can be tricky. Everyone arrives at 6:15 for a 6:30 signup...by 6:34 the list was 17 deep. I guess that's a sign of a good open mike. The only thing the mic needs is people (all comics).
