  1. For sheer entertainment value, the best open mic in the city. And the room is absolutely fantastic. It's in this little Anne Frank attic, so the acoustics are great. Definitely better than Helium.

  2. Chris Cotton, H.Foley, and Tom Cassidy run an outstanding room. It's the place to learn, work out new material, and sometimes see a famous comedian trying out new stuff.

  3. Its too small/claustrophobic. I tried seeing my friend perform there a couple times but half of us weren't aloud in because of a fire hazard. I've seen great comedians perform; however, im told by many comedians that its nearly impossible to perform on the number you signed up. In most cases, you get bumped so all their "regulars" perform first. In that sense, its not a proper open mic and instead just a platform for them to showcase their friends.

    1. Take it from me, I'm a local comic and I've been doing it awhile. I performed at the Raven when I first moved to the area a few years ago. It's a great room with some awesome comics but the guy before me has it on the money...it's basically a room where unless you're "in" with the guys who run it, expect to go on the second or third half. That being said, try it! It's not a bad room at all...but after awhile if you're like me, and you want to grow and improve, take your talents elsewhere when you're ready and improve on your own.

Most people will tell you that you need to "stick it out, and everybody pays their dues" well, I've seen some of the best comics come through there in recent months and get bumped by other comics who can barely get chuckles out of the audience, but again, 'politics.'

Just do it once though...it's worth it

  4. They only put up their own guys who are not that funny. Don't waste your time here unless you want to sell your soul for less than nothing. Lots of promises and dreams being sold here just too sell beer, food and drink. A dead end road at best for standup comics who want to make it in the Big time arena.

  5. Another thing, if you want their people to steal your standup material that you write then it's a perfect place to be at. Good Luck.
