Just started a few months ago. Small gathering of comics, but a very warm environment. 8 minutes! Plenty of time to refine some material AND try new stuff. Also, they just started a weekly topic for something different. Joke topic for next week: Dinosaurs.
I went here the other Monday. It wasn't bad. It's a pretty small open mic so I don't expect to see any super funny people but there was a few guys I saw with some potential. One guy said he wrote his jokes 30 minutes before he went up, that in itself was funny, but jokes weren't bad either. $3 Guniess & Stellas.
This is a neighborhood tap with neighborhood tap regulars. An audience!! (rare hereabouts) The space is too small for all the comics, but whose fault is that? Can't blame the host for success.
I've been to this mic twice now, and plan on continuing to go. The crowd varies from week to week, but it's a very warm environment and the lengthy time limit gives newcomers a chance to warm up a little bit before their set is over. The venue is small, but it's also very intimate. Plus, for the last couple of weeks, there's been free pizza for the comics! Overall, the hosts do a great job of keeping the place fun and funny. Highly recommended!
Mediocre room, only good if you're trying to hit up a ton of rooms on Monday (which is fun - do Mahoneys, Shambles, Joe's, and Gio's, and you'll either love or hate life). If you're just doing one room on a Monday, try out Mahoneys or Shambles first.
I just did this place last night. Good crowd, a couple new faces and, best of all, the host got some free pizza for all the comedians. Real laid-back, and I'm definately going to try to make it next week.
I went there for the first time last week and loved it. There was free pizza which definitely helped me relax a bit and the other comedians presenting also seemed pretty nice. The only bad part is that it seems only the first few comedians get attention, after that people get drunk but dont get loud. A good place to check out.
This host has gone through so many different goddamn hosts. Now it belongs to Collin Bullock, who's a nice enough dude. The room has always been pretty shitty, but it's late night on Monday and allows you to do a ton of mics on a Monday night. Just fucking do it, there's no reason not to. Oh, and FREE PIZZA.
