great host! great dj! other than the few annnoying comics that don't smell their own shit, get drunk and make fools out themselves, it's a fair mic. would be great if the host can control his unruly comic or 2, even has the potential of a produced show. weed out the weak links, (send the drunk back to harlem)and I'm sure people would pay.
a little comic named lay-v once told me if you don't have nothing nice to say about your fellow comic, say nothing, he also said, compete with yourself not with them, it is hard enough for them, pass 'em, but never notice you passed 'em. For the person who wrote that last comment, worry about you, if you worry about them, you cannot effectively do you. -the realist!
LOL! i don't think that dude has lost the will to do anything. He had like two TV series last year. The comments on this board are hilarious! Tons of haters. D is like the nicest guy in the world.
this mic's got alot of corner store comics. the host sounds like an out of work actor with his voice changes. ahh! he doesn't even know who the hell he is.. they all suck at this place.
gotta respond to some haters. this is a good mic. both hosts are cool and are generous with time. most of the comics are good and all are supportive. good room.
$10.00 Open Bar 8pm-10pm Great food, bartender, and Host! Great place to work out..some celebrities stop in. Actors, writers and comedians hang out and watch the show. Brooklyn crowd is in the building every Tues. Good place for up-and coming Comedians and seasoned veterans.
people? Darien Sills Evans is not Dave Chappelle. They don't even look alike. Well maybe Just a little. They're both great guys! this is just one of those mics that make you stronger, and should be a visual picture for when you make it and start taking the craft for granted, you can end up as obscure talent living in one of those inebriating ilixor bottles, or taking a stroll around the block to take a drag of the smiling cigarette to muster up the balls to climb on to that board walk called a stage to spew out faint memories of foolery!
think about this for a sec........... why the fuck would Dave Chappelle be on bad slava??? (no offense to slava) dave would know where the good spots are and would be way too busy to continue this childish bullshit internet tough guy pussy obama ass lickin fight.
Hey, seriously, I am Dave Chappelle and I AM on SLAVA! Because of Martin Luther King Jr and Rosa Parks, I can be wherever the fuck I want to be! I don't know why you have to say shit when you're "anonymous."
ok fine ur Dave Chappelle and Im Tracy Morgan, Ill be there next week and we'll compare careers. So there Im not anonymous anymore. Im busy bangin Tina Fey in the ass but Ill stop by to give you some career advice.
i dont know about other weeks, stopped by this week, no Chappelle, no celebs, no nobody, no open mic. But hey at least it was incredibly cold outside and Ill probably get sick, so I'll be performing at my doctors office later this week. GOOD JOB!!!!
Rule#1:Respect the pecking order. Lots of people are going to go up before you, starting with the professional comedians, then the regulars, then the people who brought more guests than you. This is true regardless of when you showed up; do NOT get your panties in a bunch about it. Understand that simply showing up does not entitle you to anything. Rule#2:Be persistent. If you do get bumped on your first night, check in with the manager before you leave about getting on The List for next time. Clubs will often maintain a “bumped list” like this to give you a better chance at the next open mic. Rule#3: Stick around for a while after your set, especially if you brought guests. You don’t necessarily need to stay until the very end, but it’s not very good form for you and your guests to dash off right after your stage time (until you’re a regular, at which point you’ve earned that right). Rule#4: Don’t sweat it if you suck. Seriously, nobody expects anything else from a first-timer or a seasoned Vet working out. Since the stakes couldn’t be any lower, why not set all that stress aside and just have a good time? Rule#5:Call or Facebook someone to see if the MIC is on! Obviously your not busy with a PAID BOOKED GIG that night..or You Wouldn't Give a Shit about a OPEN MIC."SUPERSTAR!" #I HATE COMICS
don't bother unless you're one of the hosts personal friends, because the stoned out of his mind hose will skip you and put his friends on even if you signed up.
"Anonymous" from January 10 is spot on. "Anonymous" from February 22 sounds bitter. I never met the host before, and he put me up when he said he would and gave me ten minutes of stage time. TEN FRIGGIN' MINUTES with NO cover? NO lottery? First come, first served.
If they wanna bump with a known comic who cares as long as they still take care of the people on the list? People are so stupid.
I had a great time, can't understand why more people don't come to this mic. The place is a dump, but still an amazing venue. I've been back three times now. Nobody gives you as much time to work on material, but it is kinda far from the train (for me anyway).
This was OK. I'm not from here and dropped in at 8:35 and so was at the bottom of the list of about 16. It was almost exclusively comedians and I think I was the only non-regular. It was nice to have more time at an open mic (8 minutes, more if the host forgot to light you, I was given about 6 or 7), but it also took over 2 hours for me to get up to a tired band of stragglers. I was also strung along a bit and told I was going up in a half-hour (about an hour and 45 before I really went on), then later that I was going up in 5 people (ended up being 7). I completely understand why this happened and that as an outsider to this scene I wouldn't be anyone's priority, so I guess if you're nearby this mic and can make it consistently and early enough to be in the top 6 comics and want to work on a longer bit, try this mic. Shock comedy, high energy comics, and comics with an attitude/passion driving their topics did well tonight. A lot of drinking and smoking here, laid-back and low-pressure vibe.
This one is real hit or miss, which is too bad because the venue is fantastic. Getting a little more time than most mics has it's advantages, but it's an eternity when a comic is bombing, particularly when it's me doing the bombing. DJ Mo-Better brings it weekly! Much love to that dude and his DEEP grooves.
This place is a dump! really run down! reminds me of a scene out of Casino where Robert Deniro tries to send Ray Liota's wife in to this shit hole store? If you ever wanna feel like crap and spread it on thick, come to this joint, it'll have you grabbing for the pill bottle with extreme prejudice to self inflict an abrupt ending to your life! I warned you!
I love Tipsy Hustle. Freddy and Naruda are the sweetest. Heavy hitters roll in. Yeah, the room can be empty early but it always fills up with laughs and love.
I love this mic. It's free, you get loads of time and the room is consistently supportive in my experience. The food is delicious. The drinks are reasonably priced. There's sometimes an audience of non-comics that will be at the bar. The hosts are nice. Overall, I give this mic a 5 out of 5
This is a great mic. It's free! (but buy something if you can) The host is great and the crowd supportive. DJ is actually a good DJ... People are funny here
Great Mic..worth Checking Out

ReplyDeleteThis mic rules. I got heckled by a drunk old dude at the bar, which sucked, but then he went up and did his own set.
ReplyDeleteThis mic is real. I love that. You won't get pity laughs here. You feel like you really have good stuff when it works here.
