  1. I didn't stay away and I'm glad I didn't. Lot of bad reviews on this site about this place. The best open mic I've found in the Valley so far.

  5. This place treats comedians with extreme disrespect.

  6. It's an "audition" that you are required to buy a drink in order to perform but no one who does any of the booking was anywhere to be found when I was up. They were in the other room at the bar talking. The other "comics" were painfully bad (even worse than the usual open mic crap!)

  7. I kept hearing "Jack is a sleaze, don't go." but I wanted to see for myself. I got there early to hang out. He saw me sitting alone. I told him I didn't want to perform just wanted to check it out and he said it was a two drink minimum. I told him I was a comic and he closed his eyes, shook his head and said it didn't matter. There was no one else there but comics, and it's just an open mic. It's cheaper to pay the five dollars he forces comics to pay and not go on then to be honest and just want to support. Such unbelievable disrespect. It's almost if he hates comedians - the very talent that bring the audience. Heck of a way to run a business, Jack. Everyone was right, you ARE a sleaze.

  8. Said it was the best open mic in the Valley I had found so far, but since then Flappers in Burbank has opened. That place is much better.

  16. What a shitty place! All the comics that work there are horrible hacks. MC was mad I was looking at my notes and not fake laughing at his shitty material. I hope the owner goes bankrupt.

  17. Ok, so I've read the reviews and I had to see for myself why EVERYONE SAYS this PLACE SUCKS. I showed up ready for an open mic, and WITHIN 1 MINUTE I WALKED AWAY. I can't say this place sucks because i didn't even make past the big black bouncer wearing sunglasses. All i know is i wasn't welcome. bottom line is the crowd and the comics (at least the night i showed up) were 90% black. The bouncer at the door basically made it very clear to me that I (a white person) was in the wrong place. I didn't want to fight my way in so i ended up leaving. Look, like most people in LA, i could care less what race people are. But the bouncer and the African-American lady at the door went out of it's way to make sure i knew it was a night for African-Americans, and since i didn't fit in, they were blatantly rude to me and i ended up getting back in my car and driving away.

Like EVERYONE ELSE ABOVE ME, I will NEVER GO to this PLACE AGAIN.

  18. Went in to check it out and was immediately forced to buy a drink. I asked the bartender, how much is a beer and she said $6. I said ok and got my six bucks out. She put the beer down and said "$6.57". 6 Fifty Seven?! She said that's with tax. What f_cking bar does that?! I'll never be back to this crappy shady joint.

  19. At this point you have read the reviews of The Ha Ha and think if 90% of the reviews are bad than it's a shit club or ALL of the reviewers are bitter comics, you decide. Most of the good reviews on here are forced ones that the club makes the employees write so you do the math. Decent club in terms of sound and layout but they've fucked over so many comics in various ways that it's a horrible club at this point. I mean there is a reason Jon Lovitz opened up a comedy club right up the street without hesitation.

  20. LOL am I the only one who's had a positive experience here? The staff was pretty cool on the Saturday night I went, I did my 5 min and got consistent laughter the entire time. Are you guys all just bitter hacks or what? I'll have to perform there a second time to see it my experience changes I gues...

  21. I performed here a few times, and although the waiting process can be a frustration that defies performance description, the room aura and comedic contrast is quite an intriguing phenomenon. Aesthetically incongruent and filled with observational potentiality.

The stage ambience is filled with miscellaneous paraphernalia's, an abstract inventory for the cerebral observer, also the neon-ish colors and semi circle room is quite an encapsulating theme.

Multiple peripheral TV screens to pacify your narcissistic notions, a rarity in most open mics, and the furniture incongruity caters to a potential audience preferential taste. The room is astronomically spacious and comically inviting, and you can taste humor in the air.

My only pet peeve is the inability to perform in successions based on an assumed chronological system, I'm assuming it's a lottery, although it appears organizationally ambiguous in nature.

"Nevertheless" I've developed an overnight infatuation for this place and will continuing exploring its multifaceted polarity and overall unorthodox settings.

  23. I've seen him perform and the mans a genius, not sure how he does it but he's funny off the cuff, the jokes are corny and it's the things he does outside the material that's different. Spoke to the dude a few times and he seems a little fucking off though like super weird. Don't know what to make of this guy whether he's super brilliant or simply a lucky fucking nutjob but the man is a genius.
