This open mic is not only a good place to work shit out, its also FUN. I went for the first time last Monday (Nov 19) and I've never had a better time at an open mic. The host was funny and accommodating, the people who worked there were fantastic, and the dj was another comedian who played hilarious music in between acts. Some of the other comedians even jumped on stage towards the end of the mic and carried the host of stage and introduced the last performer themselves, all completely unscripted. There isn't a better open mic around LA
I love this mic. It's a very fun and supportive room in a neighborhood that only looks terrifying. It's first come first served, so get there early, goofus!
This mic is without a doubt the best open mic. Supportive, great drinks, sometimes the host does skits, it's amazing. If this were an ebay review I'd say "Great Buyer, fast payment A++++++++"
This mic is hands down the best one in LA. In every measurable way. If this is not on your agenda every week, you miss out. Jay and Ryan are amazing for making this mic the most enjoyable place to be for a comedian on a Monday night.
A great mic. Hollywood hotel is consistently a fantastic place to work out your "chops." The "chops" I've gotten from the hollywood hotel make me feel like I can take on any room in the country! Also very helpful to remember to "do your time" it will really help you in cultivating your "chops"
Pretty awesome night- suer fun, interactive crowd- everyone is supportive and drinks are cheap! bring friends and fill out the crowd but otherwise it's a super fun room o comics.

Went here last week for the first time. Very cool spot. Fair lottery, when your name is pulled you sign up whatever slot you'd like as long as it isn't already taken. Its a good setup, and you have peoples full attention. Nothing to compete with. If you're funny, they'll laugh. You get three minutes. Great spot.
I owed a guy 5 grand by Friday because I'd picked the Jets +5 and they hadn't covered the spread. I knew that I wouldn't be able to come up with the money, so my kneecaps were a goner. Suddenly, I got real fatalistic and existential about my life. And decided to take up comedy.
On the advice of a friend, I went on a site called badslava.com (Google it, it's fantastic!), where I saw Jay's open mic. And I went. Did I bomb? Did I get my kneecaps busted? Yes. Do I now trundle around Los Angeles in a walker with tennis balls, like an old lady (I also wear an old dress to complete the effect). Yes. But l WILL be coming back to this open mic!
I don't know why but I always wind up hooking with a fine chick whenever I go to tis mic. It's not that I try to it just happens. Even Jay starts getting on my jock when I show up. Too much pussy can wear u out though so I've been doing oth mics lately. -KK

Echoes Under Sunset is quite an unorthodox medium, with a contrasting demographics and multiple polarized performers all encapsulated in the overall dichotomic whole of humor.

May I ponder on my dissatisfaction to demystify the enigmas of spontaneity, a paradoxical contention that will indeed obliterate one to demystify the other. Isn’t that ironic? A quest to resolve the consequences of the very said unpredictability you enjoy. The quintessential of human curiosity makes him a victim of his own discretion.
This open mic is partitioned in all aspect, and the Host deviates in multiple successions beyond the parameters of anticipation, unanticipated verbal and physical intervals, and protruding the audience into a state of perpetual ambivalence.
Quite the luxurious rudiments of what humor is contingent on.
(Echoes Under Sunset) is syntactically ambiguous, one being the literal terminology and the other being the metaphorical non literal interpretations, maybe it has idiomatic potentials, A syntactical denotation that evolves into a contemporary cliche connotation.
Nevertheless, My experience here defies description, and I hope this rooms aura doesn’t wither into the cold desert air, Because a dull moment here is not a luxury you can afford. Missing this Open Mic would be a perpetual travesty, that will wither you into the cold desert air. My review is without a sense of irony…!

ReplyDeleteActually here's some inside info; atelston Fitzgerald holder the lol 1st was incarcerated, kid you not, inside info from a laugh factory source. He wrote a blog on his site about the factory and Jamie sued him for defamation of character and copyright infringement on intellectual property etc. The fucking moron photoshopped laugh factory logos and used Jamie Masada photos without the factory approval. What got him arrested was the email he sent Jamie threatening to knock-him-out in public, because Jamie didn't pass him in the audition. Jamie staff forwarded the email to local authorities and he was arrested the same week.
